This species is a small-sized, hot-growing epiphyte or lithophyte found in the Yunnan province of China and Laos, typically in sparse woods on limestone slopes at elevations of 700 to 800 meters. It has a creeping rhizome with 4 to 9 cm between each ovoid pseudobulb, each carrying a single, apical, erect, somewhat fleshy, oblong to obovate-oblong leaf. The plant blooms in the spring on a basal, 19 to 26 cm long, suberect inflorescence with 3 to 6 flowers arranged in a subumbellate formation.
