Vanda pumila is a small-sized epiphytic orchid native to the lowlands and montane forests of northern India, Bhutan, Sikkim, Nepal, Myanmar, southern China, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, and Sumatra. It grows in semi-deciduous and deciduous forests at elevations from sea level to 1400 meters, thriving in bright light with a distinct dry season in winter. The plant features short, stout, ascending stems with ligulate, tridentate leaves, and blooms in spring to early summer on a 10-20 cm long inflorescence with fragrant, long-lasting flowers.
